Three unions representing French cabin crew have filed a strike notice running from Friday, August 7th, until Wednesday, September 2nd, in a dispute over working conditions.
Three unions - the SNPNC-FO, UNAC-CFE-CGC, and UNPNC-CFDT - representing cabin crew at the budget airline easyJet have filed a strike notice that runs from Friday, August 7th, to Wednesday, September 2nd, inclusive.
The strike is due to a long-running dispute about working conditions for cabin crew - the unions' statement said: "For nearly a year, unions have been alerting easyJet management to the ongoing deterioration of working conditions for cabin crew: chronically unstable schedules, last-minute changes, mandated trips, particularly gruelling rotations, and a total lack of protective measures. No concrete or binding response has been provided."
The month-long strike notice does not mean a full strike for a month, unions say they will announce "key dates for mobilisation" 48 hours in advance, and on those days will be inviting staff to walk out.
Anyone with a flight booked with easyJet during the strike period is advised to check with the airline 48 hours in advance, and keep an eye on The Local's strike section for strike dates.
The action is nationwide and therefore potentially affects all easyJet flights going to or from France.
The company said that it was "disappointed" with the strike notice, adding: "With negotiations already scheduled for September, we are calling on the unions to withdraw this counterproductive strike notice during this particularly important time of year for our passengers."
